The Gooding Urban Renewal Agency was formed in December 2004 to foster economic development. 

The Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Gooding, Idaho is an independent public body, corporate and politic created pursuant to Title 50, Chapter 20, Idaho Code and Resolution No. 174 of the City of Gooding passed on April 19, 2004. 

Pursuant to Idaho Code 50-2008, the City of Gooding adopted Resolution #181 designating an Urban Renewal Project Area. The Gooding Urban Renewal Agency purchased 36 acres in the industrial park. 

The officers are elected annually by the Agency at the first regular annual meeting of the Agency. Each officer holds office until his successor is elected. Any vacancy in any office is filled by the Agency by election for the unexpired portion of the term. 

The Chairman:
Is the principal executive officer of the Agency and, unless otherwise determined by the members of the Agency, presides at all meetings of the Agency. Executes any resolutions adopted by the Agency and any documents, certificates, deeds, mortgages, deeds of trust, notes, bonds, contracts or other instruments authorized by the Agency to be expressly delegated by the Agency or by the Bylaws to some other officer or agent of the Agency, or shall be required by law to be otherwise made. In general performs all duties incident to the office of the Chairman and such other duties as may be prescribed by the Agency from time to time. 

Vice-Chairman:
In the absence of the Chairman or, in the event of the Chairman’s inability or refusal to act, the Vice-Chairman performs the duties of the Chairman, and when so acting has all the powers of and is subject to all of the restrictions upon the Chairman. The Vice-Chairman also performs such other duties as from time to time may be prescribed by the Agency. 

The Secretary:
Keeps the minutes of the meetings of the Agency in one or more books kept for that purpose. Sees that all notices are duly given in accordance with the Bylaws and as required by law. Is custodian of the corporate records and of the seal of the Agency, and may affix the seal of the Agency to resolutions, documents, certificates, deeds, mortgages, deeds of trust, notes, bonds, contracts and other instruments, the execution of which on behalf of the Agency under its seal is duly authorized in accordance with the provisions of the Bylaws. Keeps a register of the names and post office addresses of all commissioners. Keeps general charge of the books of the Agency. Keeps on file at all times a complete copy of the Ordinance of the Municipality creating the Agency and the Bylaws of the Agency, containing all amendments thereto (all of which shall be open to the inspection of the members of the Agency at any time and to the public.) May attest any resolutions adopted by the Agency and any documents, certificates, deeds, mortgages, deeds of trust, notes, bonds, contracts or other instruments authorized by the Agency to be attested, except in cases in which the attestation thereof shall be expressly delegated by the Agency, or by the Bylaws of the Agency to some other officer or agent of the Agency, or shall be required by law to be otherwise made. Shall in general, perform all duties incident to the office of Secretary and such other duties as, from time to time, may be assigned to the Secretary by the Agency.

Gooding Industrial Park

Gooding Boasts an Industrial Park of approximately 80 acres located along the Union Pacific railroad mainline. The business park offers sites appropriate to both light and heavy industry. 

In 2011 an Idaho Community Development Grant of $465,000 funded improvements in the Industrial Park; the addition of street lighting; road extension; and water and sewer lines extended and upgraded. 

The Location of Union Pacific mainline is a strong transportation component and is augmened by easy access to the interstate highway system. The Gooding Airport is located a short distance outside the city limits. Airports at Hailey, Boise and Twin Falls are easily accessed and convenient for the business traveler. Gooding is home to several trucking lines. The newest is the WEL Company. The Urban Renewal Agency is working on a plan to market remaining acres.

Planning & Zoning Commission

The Gooding City Planning & Zoning meets regularly on the third Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm in the Gooding Municipal Building, 308 5th Ave West, Gooding, Idaho. If the meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting may be rescheduled to another day. 

The Gooding City Planning & Zoning welcomes you to attend their meetings. We appreciate and encourage public participation. However, the formality of the procedures varies with the purpose and subject of the agenda item. 

Citizens wishing to address the Gooding City Planning & Zoning Committee may call the City Planning & Zoning Secretary at (208) 595-4173 and ask to be placed on the agenda. Any persons requiring special assistance should call five days prior to the meeting so that arrangements may be made. 

The planning commission shall consist of five members to be appointed by the Mayor with the consent and approval of the Council. One member may, at the time of appointment be under 21 years of age.
