The city clerk has the statutory responsibility of keeping a correct journal of the proceeding of the council and has custody of all laws and ordinances of the city. (IC 50-207) The City Clerk serves as the custodian of all public records for the City, ensures legal compliance for public notices and official records, and provides a variety of public services.
City Clerk attends and records City Council sessions; preparing the agenda and information packets for Council meetings. The City Clerk performs administrative work to support the Mayor and City Council.
Our goal is to provide quality general governmental administrative services to the City of Gooding staff, elected officials, and members of the community.
Functions of the City Clerk’s office include:
- Building Permit Applications
- Planning and Zoning
- City Park reservations
– Dog Licensing
– Alcohol Beverage licensing
– Alcohol Catering permits
– Parade permits
– Public Records Requests
– City Elections
– Personnel / Human Resources – The payroll function throughout the City, including such activities as the calculation and preparation of employee-related withholdings, preparation of payroll checks, and preparation of federal & state tax reports.
– Water, Sewer, Sanitation Services
