The special meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Gooding, Idaho was called to order at 6:00 pm in the Gooding Municipal Building, 308 5th Ave West, Gooding, Idaho on September 23, 2013.
Present were Mayor Nelson, Councilpersons Arkoosh, France and Magnelli. Councilwoman Houser was not present.
Lincoln Inn Parking Lot Lease
The Mayor and Council discussed selling the City owned Lincoln Inn parking lot. However, part of the hotel and restaurant were built on the City’s land. The City cannot sell the land to the current owner without an auction. Since the land would be sold to the highest bidder, selling the land could cause a dispute. The Mayor and Council decided to have Attorney Craig Hobdey create a twenty-five year lease requiring at least $500,000.00 in liability insurance coverage on the premises. The annual lease installments will be $100.00.
Yard Sales- Proposed Ordinance 685
The City has received several complaints from citizen’s regarding yard sales. The complaints are about the number of yard sales one person can have, how long they can have a yard sale and that people attending the yard sales park in front of their mailbox preventing the Post Office from delivering.
The Mayor and Council reviewed Ordinance 685 and would like the statement “unsold sale items are to be removed or stored indoors between sales” added under section 2D. They would also like to add court costs to the penalties.
Chief of Police Applications
The Mayor and Council discussed the applications that have been received for the Chief of Police position and narrowed the candidates down to two people that they want final background checks on.
