A Special meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Gooding, Idaho to discuss the Budget for Fiscal Year 2012-13 and increasing Sewer Fees was held on June 11, 2012 at 6:00 pm in the Gooding Municipal Building, 308 5th Ave West, Gooding, Idaho.
Present were Mayor Morton, Councilpersons Arkoosh, France, Houser and Magnelli.
Present were Public Works Director Todd Bunn, Deputy City Clerk Morri Hall, City Clerk Carmen Korsen, City Treasurer Kathy Lehr and Police Chief Jeff Perry.
The purpose of the special meeting was to discuss the revenue and expenses for the Fiscal Year 2012-13 budget now that the New Construction roll has been received from the County. All department budgets were tentatively approved by the Council.
Rates need to be raised to cover expenses for the Sewer and Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). For the last seven (7) months the maintenance costs to repair the Sewer and WWTP have exceeded revenue by $41, 892.56. According to Public Works Director Bunn the WWTP was built in 1981 and is in need of costly repairs and maintenance. The Sewer and WWTP budget will need to be raised by $93,600 to cover maintenance and repairs. A public hearing will be scheduled at a later date and new rates will be set at that time.
